I just did it last week. Takes under a minute to do the whole swap.
To get the OEM knob off just pull straight up (no need to twist it or anything and just use a lot of pressure to pull it upwards). Once its off you'll notice its still connected with the boot and the boot clips out easily too...but it sounds like you already have that part taken care of.

just make sure not to smoke yourself in the head with the knob when taking it off!

it's easier to pull the knob if you have it in 2nd gear.

first, go to the gym and do some curl with 25 lbs dumbbell. Then while you are still pumped, go home and pull on that knob as hard as you can. Do it at your own risk since I am not responsible for any damages to your car or your body/face. If Nikki can do it, you can do it...

Have the sunroof open and sit directly over the console, pull hard and straight up in second gear.

do you have to push the unlock button (AUTO knob) or just pull straight up? I can understand pulling straight up for manual stick but I am curious how the knob locks/unlocks in an auto. Anyone got pix?
