328xi steering issues

I have just bought a 2007 328xi and I am pretty happy with it, except for a couple of issues.

Before buying it, I read that the steering is heavier than the usual car because of the AWD, but that is fine, I actually like it. But when I am parking the car, moving really slowly, with the brakes on (it is automatic) it feels really awkward. I donŽt know if it is the normal behaviour of the AWD transmission, or what.

As the car is still under warranty, I took it to the BMW dealer to check the steering. They changed the steering wheel pump, and since then the steering is a little bit lighter but I have the same noises, erratic behaviour when I park.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I also have the '07 328xi. The steering is very heavy when parking. This was noted in a published review of the model (as was acceleration lag, which I fixed with the BMS Powerbox).

Have you also noticed the many little noises you hear after you put the car in "Park", then let off the brake? Sounds like the transmission groaning once you put the burden on it to hold the car still, especially if you're parked on a hill.

Check out the "bad" in this review:

apply hand brake before letting go of the foot brake. It's better for your transmission.

Never realised of the noises once the car is in Park, but IŽll pay attention next time I drive it.

Regarding the acceleration lag, I am upgrading the firmware of the car in a week, because the transmission is a bit jerky sometimes, and then, if I am not completely satisfied, will consider the BMW Powerbox.
