Sport gear knobs

Been offered a 1-series m sport gear knob with the gaitor, was just wondering would it fit an e90 3er?
It probably would, but just checking on here 1st?
Is the gaitor hard to remove from the knob itself (once already taken out of teh car complete)?

(made for double entendre's this thread!)

I would probably think so yeh. Should be fine.

Removing the gaiter is easy. Just go to the base of your previous gaiter and sort of push it in round the sides. Do that and it will just pop out. Removing the knob ( Will is banned so no homo comments) is difficult. I got in the passenger seat and pulled. Replacing with the new one is easy. Did the same when I got a short-shift gearshift for my car.

Have you got an SE?

(Frown upon people who put M Sport kit on an SE )

If this is the one with the knob and gaitor as a one, then no it doesnt fit. The gaitor is a different shape in the 1 series to the 3 er.

Yeah walesy, I figured the gaiter's were different shapes, so i was planning on just removing the actual knob from the 1er gaiter and putting it in my own car and keeping my gaiter as it is. Was wondering then how to remove the knob from the gaiter, if it has already been taken outta the car? (ie. can't use the normal technique of just pulling the knob off the gaiter, when fixed in the car itself!)

Confused?! lol

And sikkbass, yeah ive an se , but hate the massive gear knob that's in them! I'm not trying to make it something that it's not, just hate the look of an se gear knob! just my opinion!

Frowned upon?..pah! lol

That's mine, same look on the top as an SE.

Looks much better than that massive one that comes stock in SE and feels a lot better as well. I bought it off -Paul- who owns the 6 series on here. Got it for a bargain. Don't know where to buy this originally though...try dealers?

Look's the part SB to be fair! Might have to change my lines of enquiry now...

Did you buy the knob and gaiter off the 6 series, or just the knob? Fitment issues? or just staright swap?

He had it originally in a 320D before buying his 6. Was a straight swap. Very easy to fit.

The gaiter and knob come as one piece.
