2006-2010 335i?
Hey guys, I am looking to trade my car in for a 335i... but I am not sure which year should I get. Can someone give me some specs on these years of the 335i? Like what is the difference between each year? Anything new? Any defects? Which year is not recommended?
I apologize if this was answered plenty of times. I tried finding it everywhere, but never found results. Or if theres a link, it would be perfect. Thanks in advance. |

335i started in 2007. Specs are the same for all the years. Just some minor changes in interior/iDrive depending on build date. Sedan got new front and rear styling in 09. They all still have problems with the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) going bad.

You want something post LCI (2009+) to get the updated iDrive (if that's something that you want).
There are no major differences otherwise that warrant any specific year otherwise. It makes more sense, imo, to get something newer...benefit of CPO (if you get preowned) and the depreciation for the first year has hit already.

2007 - 335i introduced
2008 - second-generation evolution of the N54 management system called MSD81 introduced (I have no idea what this is, reporting it from the Bentley manual -- anyone know the difference?) 2009 - sedan gets a style refresh (LCI), new better looking exterior, wider rear track, new iDrive control and display, new front and rear lights, better position of window controls, internal hard drive and USB port The 2009 is the one to get if you want the latest stuff, of course. On the plus side, each drives just as fun as the others. On the minus side, they all seem to have the same HPFP design.

2009 may be the one to get if you want to save money but have the latest and greatest including the superbulous i-drive 2nd generation. there are very little changes in the 2010 model. except bigger mirrors .

I would stay away from 2010. For cost reduction purposes, BMW did away with some useful features - e.g., REST - the ability to run your heater with the engine off after the car has warmed up. A small electric motor continues to circulate the coolant. Also, they eliminated cargo nets behind front seats, most of the tools in the tool kit, and ther are Sirius satellite radio problems.

The wider track on the 09 LCI IIRC is a whole 25mm (or 1 inch).
