TPMS battery life?

I was wondering how often we have to replace the TPMS batteries for all 4? Has anyone run out of battery of their TPMS and get the CEL on the dash? I know TPMS became standard starting 08 production so apparently those battery last for more than 2 years.

My car is almost two years and I'm getting new tires soon, do you think I should replace all 4 batteries just in case?

Six to seven years is the recommended change interval - at least for VAG - I can't imagine BMW being much different.

You can't just replace the battery though - you'll need new sensors.

My dealer has been replacing them starting anytime past 3 year mark and some sooner. At least they are covered for 4/50.

Do you think they are covered even with my 19" after market rims and tires?

Only the ones that came with the car on the original rims are covered under the 4/50. For sensors that you buy on your own or from the parts department have a different warranty.
