I have had decent luck with Town Fair tire for my other cars. I ended up getting a used set on wheels from somebody who sold out their lease. My other option was a set of Nokians from Town Fair. They are the only ones around that I know of that can get Nokians. Nokian does not have an authorized distributor in MA but Town Fair can pull them from a CT store. I ended up with Dunlop Wintersports and like them so far. It sounds like tomorrow will be my first chance to try them in some real snow.

As far as storage, I have a 40'x60' barn you can keep your other set in for a case of good beer.

also looking - know anyone good in metrowest? Can't go to Winchester. I just need someone to take off the summers from the OEM 18's and install/balance new winters. Not very difficult so probably just take to NTB or local garage.

I just did mine at Herbchambers Boston. I knew it is such a notorious place to get serviced but had no time to look for somewhere else. And actually, I kinda like it considering it saved my time a lot. I am not saying that they are good but okay if you think your time is more valuable than your money.

BTW how much do you guys pay for tire mounted wheel change? I replaced my 19-inch summer setup to 18-inch winter setup and paid $129.95 including balancing at Herbchambers. They said simple wheel swapping costs 69.95.

I ended up going to direct tire in natick, I got hosed, 160 bucks! To mount newly purchased alpin pa3's on stock 18's I bought seperately. They also took 2 f'n hours! But was rushed on timing to find a place near where my buddy worked so he could store the tires (thank for again for the post above on offering to help me out!!!!!). I'll never go back there again (also now that they are mounted should be like 30 bucks to balance and mount). Btw, I was really impressed with the michelin's performance in the mini nor'easter we got yesterday morning. Felt very planted and this is coming from the xDrive coupe I had last year

Also, what is herb boston's track record on servicing? I go there, didn't realize they were notorious?

I don't think $40 per tire is that bad if it was for mounting and balencing and installing the tires. They alway gaff you unless you buy the tires from them. I changed my own out and it was a pain in the butt. I hope you mentioned to torque the wheels to 80 pounds. I can't comment on Herb Chambers service but have been pretty happy so far with Wagner.

I ended up going to NTB and they did not hurt anything so I am happy. Cost me $100 to mount, balance and TPMS service.

However - I did not talk to them about the proper torque.

Paid $170 at Firestone in Braintree to take out PS2s, mount and roadforce balance Blizzaks, reset TPMS on OEM 19" rims. Didn't get the alignment, postponed that for summer.

About to pick up a set of extra rims for PS2s. Anyone know if they can mount and balance tires if I bring the new rims to them without the car? That way, I can mount the wheels in my garage whenever I want.
