Poll: Fix-It Ticket California Only

Anyone ever got a fix-it ticket for aftermarket stuff? I'm talking about...

HID conversion kits

Engine mods

Tint

or even loud sound systems

Let me know if you got tagged by the cops...

As for me...i've been driving about 10 years...no Accidents, 1 pull over for warning ( burnt headlight but no ticket ), 1 parking ticket ( $35 bucks )

One fix-it ticket for 18% front tint, and two warnings. One fix-it for no front plate, and also a couple warnings.

totally unheard of out here. just go to a softball game on the weekends and see all the sheriffs vehicles with tint, aftermarket parts, etc. mostly american cars. all they care about really are your actions, or if your an obnoxious ricer, etc. otherwise - if your respectfull you fly under the radar.

You always run into highway patrol or sheriffs @ kragen or auto zone getting parts for there cars. when they drive off its usually a modified mustang or a classic american muscle car. many enthusiest here who are also in law enforcement. close friend is highway patrol - he seconds that statement as well. 17 cruisers in the area, 6 years - no ticket on any of our tinted vehicles.

must be the 110+ degree heat in the summer that makes it comon?

$575 fix-it-ticket for tint.....like 7-8 years ago......

because i didn't take care of it in time......had to go to court.....

judge was cool........he let me off with $275(i think....it was 50% discount)

cause i showed proof that the tint was taken off......

you guys mentioned without fixing it...

usually the fix-it ticket will require that someone take a look at the car, verify that it has been removed, and then you're off the hook. Am i right??

Tint and no front plate = Tickets all the time.

I was actually pulled over last night for both offenses.

Damn that cop must have been pretty anal.... hopefully I don't have your luck the next time I cross the bay bridge. 30% all around for me.

As for the license plate fix-it tickets, do you guys know if it'll be good enough to just use some strong double sided tape to hold it on long enough to get it inspected, then just rip it off again?

Thats what i have been doing since they give tickets for parking ithout front plates right J?

it comes off pretty easily, but do it enough and you bend the license plate all out of shape.

no front license plate - twice got fix-it tickets..once in los angeles and another one in san francisco

exhaust modification ticket - one fix-it ticket...took it in to the police station to get sound measured....it passed...took it in to the CHP station...it passed...still had to wait an entire day in court for the judge to to dismiss the ticket...

engine modification ticket - fix-it ticket for cold air intake and blow off valve....basically put the stock air box cover over the intake and took it in to the police station....signed off on my ticket....the guy had no idea what a blow off valve was and just signed that off also....

it's generally $10 for a fix it, but there are sometimes hidden fees, like "clerk fees" or "inspection fees".

My one front plate ticket was $25, and my one tint ticket (my previous ride had reflective 10% all windows) was $10, plus $20 to get the tint off.

I think it also depends on if that's your first time to fix this problem or you been giving the multiple tickets because of the same problem. Just like my tint, first time is much cheaper than the second one. But according to the Oakland police, the local police won't give you any tint ticket, only CHP (local police called them highway security) will give you this type of ticket, because they have nothing to do!!! The front license plate, I don't think you can do double side tape when you show to local police, you have to have something to hold your license plate, or you have to tie in on the lower grill. you can double side tape the license plate holder, tho. The white or blue corner light, I got verbal warning, but no ticket, same as the cold air intake.
