they recommand to have extended bolts, but no you don't need extended bolts for 5mm spacers!

I would definitely get extended bolts with 5mm spacers.

id get extended lugs as well. anytime you go widening your stance with spacers, its just safer to do so. plus its not like its expensive or anything

Easy enough to measure. You should have as many threads engaged as the diameter of the lug bolt. So if the bolt is 1/2", there should be 1/2" of threads engaged in the hub. Or, if the hub isn't that thick, at least the thickness of the hub mounting surface. Keep in mind you have the thickness of the rotor which is not threaded.
I would not recommend removing 5mm of thread engagement from a wheel except as a temporary measure. Jay
