size of LM-60's on my 06 330i sport

I was checking into getting some 225/40R18 blizzak LM-60's on my 06 330i with Sport package (as the winter sticky says can work).

I was checking offers on ebay as well, and one seller mentioned that the 225/40R18 wouldn't fit well on my 18x8.5 rear wheels. He suggested a 265-35-18 size and offered them at $122 a piece with no shipping.

Sounds like a good deal pricewise (LM-60's at 225/40R18 going for $172 or so a piece). Does this sound like a better setup than having same size all around for winter?

Thanks for comments,

Dave

225/40-18 would be better all around for winter vs. the fat 265 rears, in general. Might not be as big a deal in St. Louis as I assume you don't get a lot of snow.

225/40-18 fits just fine on an 8.5" wheel. This was just brought up the other day. Bridgestone approves wheels from 7.5" to 9" wide with 225/40-18.

I have LM60Blizzaks 225/40/18's on my staggered style 162 wheels. We have had two major storms in Colorado and all was good.
