what this set up for?if for track, isn't 8" will lighter than 8.5" and have more space for inner side of the wheel? i used to see someone with hamann hm2 e46 fitment "f et38,r et44" with h&r sport no problem.but not sure for coilover, for example..i'm using tein coilover.my widest wheels size on front r 8.5" et32.coz, lower offset wheel will scratch coil and wider wheel will rub fender.

It will be far from flush. This looks like a perfect setup for e46. According to the calculator, your back wheels will only stick out 2mm more than stock, and your front wheels will come out to the same point.

It can be a tiresome effort, but it will be worth it in the end when you get the wheels you want in the perfect fitment. For reference, I think that most of the popular wheels out there nowadays like VMR run a 8.5" front with 35 offset and 9.5" rear with 33 offset. That will get you a fitment that's not too conservative and not too aggressive.

I'm running a 10.5" rear with 40 offset, which on the outside edge is the equivalent of a 9.5" with 27 offset and this is what it looks like on my E90 with stock sports suspension. It extends 22mm beyond the point of stock 8.5" wheel with 37 offset. It's about 5mm from being completely flush:

so the lower the offset the more flush?

Right, the lower the offset, the more "flush."

Use the calculator and my picture as your reference. Type in 10.5 and 40 in the "current wheel width" and "current wheel offset" boxes. Then type in 9 and 20 in the "new wheel width" and "new wheel offset" boxes. Don't worry about the inside edge for now because we have different widths, but the results are that the 9" with 20 offset will result in the edge extending another 1mm past what mine looks like. Remember, though, that I have an E90. So look around for other members' E92s and what their offset is and use that as reference.

Now, whether it will rub depends on a whole lot of factors, including how low you are. If you're on OEM sports suspension, the car is not low enough for rubbing to be a factor. if you're planning on lowering it in the future, you might want to go more conservative.

Ok, thanks a lot for taking the time to explain the concept to me.
Now I can use the calculator myself

No problem! By the way, the default numbers in the boxes are the width and offset for your stock wheels. The front ones are in the "current" boxes and the rears are in the "new" boxes.

Yeah, that thread is helpful.

Not sure about E92's but for my E90 with sports suspension, I have 28mm less clearance on the strut side and I'm OK. Maybe someone with an E92 can chime in here?
