225/40r18 snows on stock 8.5 rear wheel?

Hi guys, Im new here .... I just got a CPO 6MT 335i with sport package. I was worried about rear wheel drive in rochester's winter so after reading garys post from the tire rack I ordered a set of 4 225/40 r 18 brigestone snow tires for my stock 18 inch . The local tire shop I shipped them to said the would be unable to mount them on my 8.5 inch rear wheels? Has anyone done this? should I just go to another tire shop or should I try to return the tires? Will I still be able to use the TPM's ? Thanks in advance for your help

According to Bridgestone themselves, both the WS60 and LM60 (assuming you got one of those) have an approved rim width of 7.5" to 9" in your size.

Either print off the specs page from the Bridgestone website or find a new shop. Or both...

tell your tyre shop to to relax because my friend just fitted 225-45 tyre on a 17x8.5 rear wheel. It's fine. I believe it's same thing as 225.40 on 18x8.5.

Remmib here on forums has this set up in winter too I think (225-45 17). PM him and ask how it fits.

That shop is full of bull and so is every shop in Germany.

I had to buy 245s for the rear just for these German shops. Find another shop to go too.

Yes, you can use 225/40R18 on both the front 8" wheels and the rear 8.5" OE wheels with no problem. This is actually very common to do. Eliminating the stagger in this way works very well for winter and results in better winter traction.

I'm more worried about the aspect ratio. Will going from a 35 to 40 cause any case problems on an xi? Or from a 35/18 to a 45/17? I still haven't decided if I going to install snows on my stockers or get a 17" package. Is the difference so small that the xi awd won't have a problem with it?

8,5 and 225 fits well and there are several "Gutachten" die dies ausweisen und erlauben
