how to measure wheels?

Hey Guys,

This questions prolly gonna sound dumb to most of you...but what the hell...

When looking at any tires..for example, 19X10.....what does this mean exactly? how do they measure the tires? how do i know what the right tire is for my car in terms of size?

sorry if it the question sounds lame :-)

10 is the width of the rim
19 is the diameter of the tires/rim

Yes, but remember to measure the inside of the rim where the tire sits.

Or better yet, look at the back of the wheel for the size stamp

Yes, of course, but I think most custom forged wheels isn't stamped at the back.

Not quite correct. the 19 is the inside diameter of the tires.
