New wheels with new TPMS - question

So, I purchased a set of wheels/tires with tpms from tirerack, and sorry if this is a noob question, but i tried searching, read the owners manual etc..

but how does the new tpms work?

Do i just install the wheels and then "reset" tpms? Will it pick up the frequency and set it? Or is there a step by step process to make sure each sensor is transmitting properly to iDrive?

All you need to do is reset your TPMS (via iDrive or the stalk) once you have the new wheels installed on the car. The frequency is the same for all pre-2010 cars, 433MHz I believe.

I just installed my winter wheels last week with new TPMS sensors and have had no issues.

Think once you reset it, drive a few miles and it will clear.

perfect, thanks for the replies.

IRL-MN you mentioned "pre-2010" what did they change with the TPMS in the 2010 models?

At the minimum, the frequency changed for the 2010 model year. Previous to this it was 433 MHz. There could have been some other changes too as the price went up. Just something to be aware of when ordering the sensors - make sure you verify the part is correct for your model and year.
