10.5 inch rear. What size tire?

Hi, I need some help with tires size. I have a set of staggered wheels with a 10.5 inch rear, +40 offset. My car is an E90 with OEM sport suspension.

What size tire should I be running in the back? I've seen pictures of 265/30/19 and it just looks way too stretched. Can I run a 285/30/19 or should I stick with 275/30/19? I'm looking to keep the overall diameter as close to stock as possible.

Any help is much appreciated!

Then I'd go for 275/30/19.

you can run a 285 no problem! Id say 275 might be a little slim if you think the 265 looks stretched....
both will work fine though

Thanks for the help guys. The price gap between a 275 and 285 makes a difference too, I guess.

I'm running 265s on a 9.5" rear. Put as much tire on as you can fit. 285 would be perfect for the 10.5" rim.

Why the spacer? A 10.5" +40 is equivalent on the outer edge to a 9.5" +27 offset. Well, at leat according to the calculator at the top of the page.

I'm more concerned about the strut side rubbing, but I think I'll probably go 275/30 just to be safe and to keep the rolling diameter as close to stock as possible.

275s to be safe, plus better tire selection, plus you don't mess up your gearing as much with the larger rolling diameter. Might only be 1%, but... eh

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I went with the 275s, Falken FK452. Great price right now, and the rolling diameter was important to me. Not too stretched, still looks nice. I'm also really flush with the 10.5 +40 offset, so pretty happy with the decision.

You keep telling yourself that

That is a slight stretch. Ask anyone on here and they will tell you.

It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter fact. 275 is the correct tire for a 10" wheel, hence 265 being stretched.

I am quite aware of the VW scene as I have several friends running bags with similar stretch. I don't need lessons from you.

But since this is NOT the vw scene, I consider 265 on a 10" wheel a slight stretch.

Now head back over to vwvortex.
