Rhino ramps, Good ???

Hi all

Ive seen many of you use the Rhino ramps in the USA to do your oil changes

Well quite a few people have asked me to help with oil changes here, and id like to do my own car aswell, but my old method of using a mityvac to suck the oil out the dipstick wont work on the E90

Im not able to source anything decent for the home market here, but have a contact that can get me some "Rhino Ramp 12000" and ship them here for a good price from the USA

Are they any good ?
Any bad points to them ?

Thanks

I use a bunch of scrap 2x6 bits of wood that are about 10-12 inches long!

I just stack'em up until thy're high enough to get under, engage the parking brake, block the back wheels.....in fact that was what took me the longest when I changed my oil!

And when you finish that oil change, your E90 will purrrrr.....

That my type of ramp...

Hey fleet, I have some metal ramp (they are not rhino). The problem with my metal ramp is it has two high profile ridges on each side of the metal ramp where the wheel should fit neatly between. Well, these ridges tends to scrape my bumper. After that happen, my ramps are no longer in service . I got these ramps at wal-mart so you get what you paid for. They works great on normal cars but terrible with low profile cars. So just be carefull with ramp...

Hey Fleet, I am happy with mine and have used them at least twice so far. Nothing bad about them to me. They even work (With a little scraping) with my H&R Sports suspension.

Fleet...I have the Rhino 1200 and used it regularly to change oil. The only drawback was it has a tendency to slide so I put a rubber stopper to prevent this I drive up the ramp.

I'm a happy camper so far....

I bought a pair from Canadian Tire here which seem to be made out of recycled tires, compacted together real dense with a glue of sorts. They weigh a ton but the beauty is that they will NEVER ever slide when rolling the car up on them and I just feel safer having something totally solid.

I also bought the Rhino Ramp after several recommendations from forum members and found them to be very good. I haven't encountered the issue with them sliding, but the pavement which I work under is a little rougher than the typical garage floor.

The only thing that scares me when using them is driving up the ramps....once you hit the peak of the ramp, and realize you no longer need to gas it, you have to do a quick shift from gas to brake, otherwise you'll end up hitting the bumpstops at the front of the ramp. This shouldn't be a problem, but I always get the feeling that one day my car will just go too fast, and just continue rolling over the ramp instead of stopping...

They are good, even if your car is a little lowered. Just have someone to help you out when you're driving the car up.
