What happens to most us old timers - either lost interest, or found a job with BMW, or both.

He left when all the kids started getting their "sick" E90's. His timing was spot on.

Yeah I haven't seen him around for a while. We used to see him post once in a while (even after he's "left"). The people that know who E90fleet is are old timers. Just look at the join date, 3 out of 4 people that posted so far joined in 2005.

E90fleet was a genious. He probably moved on to bigger and better things. He taught me everything I know about my engine (the N51 model and its differences)

Fleet saved me money because he posted the TSBs, and I got 1/2 the price of my 4 tires back from BMWNA.

Best regards,

I'm one of those old timers, and I'm not even old

But I will second something said a few posts back: this place was much different a few years ago, and there is a lot of immaturity infused into these forums. M3post is has begun the same transition over the last few months and its a shame. Its a big reason I think the banning of certain "members" recently might be a good sign of Jason and company trying to clean the place up.

Cheers,

I miss the guy, he was an enormous asset to this forum.

Agreed with the level of immaturity on this board, it really is a shame.

Nothing that can be done about it though, all the CPO'd cars are going to the teenagers that couldn't afford them when they were new. That along with the tuner scene caused a steep downward spiral to this forum.

Isn't that a bit exaggerated imo?

Let's say that within 2 or 3 years max. we welcome the new 2012(?) 3 series, and history will repeat itself. A new car, 'new' forum, new/old posters.
Just like that.

It is not exaggerated, just the normal outcome of any forum. Yes, when the new 3er comes out the new guys will dominate and bring some insight to the table, and 2/3 years down the road the new comers will be consider the old crowd and the new guys consequently, the newbies.

What differs is the caliber of person that the forum/car attracts. Unfortunately with the E9x came a sh*tload of immature people, hopefully that will change with the next generation.

This site has definitely gone through a paradigm shift. It's still useful for technical information but you need patience to weed through all the BS.

I think I joined the forums right towards the end of the "old timer's" era, and I remember looking forward to E90Fleet's posts. The guy had so much information and inside knowledge it was incredible. I wonder if he ever got that job with BMW he was looking for. Regardless, his presence is definitely missed.

I also agree that the quality of new forum members seems to have been on a decline for several years now. Between the immaturity and the utter lack of comprehension for English grammar, it has made the forums somewhat difficult to follow. Don't get me wrong, there are new members who are here to learn about the cars and have meaningful discussions, but for every one of those, there seems to be a handful of members who wholeheartedly prescribe to the "omg leik I jus got my 335i dis s#it is so sick/ill its off da chain i jus raced n beet n m3/c63/rs4/z06 on i-5 and now i need 2 mak it fasta den a veyron!!!11eleven" camp.

I'm only mid 20's, and these people make me feel like a geezer.
