Be cheap and paint my wheels instead?

Ok, how do you all think this looks? I'm trying to decide if I should change the wheels and tire on my car instead of fixing the stock. I really have to have the run-flats here and I can get the stock rims fixed (because the last owner scuff it up pretty bad) for about $15 each. They will fix the lip and repaint the wheel.

I don't think I can go any bigger then 17" here cuz of the bad roads but is it worth it to spend about 1k for new wheels and tires (maybe 1.2k cuz of RFT)?

Here's my photoshop ninja skillz... this is not my car but same color and rims. I already have black kidneys on:

Crazy or what?

Eh, I'd just save and get new wheels. Is there paint that is easily buyable that's resilient enough to be on the wheels and not chip, fade, etc.?

Well, they are a tire/wheel repair shop so I'm pretty sure they'll be pretty good... if not, I'll bring it back and raise hell and they'll fix it... China is good like that.. haha

Not a fan of painting stock rims......

If you had 230's or 225M's.....maybe but I probably still wouldn't.

Save up for some better wheels. Check out the wheel forum and the vendors. Maybe someone's got a used set you can get a good deal off of.

Oh and your topic will most likely be moved.

I'd leave it how it is, if you paint them it's just going to look like you have a serious brake dust problem.

If you decide to do it, don't paint - powder coat.

I doubt they'll ship to china... even if they do, it'll probably cost more then the rims...

But yeah, I'll check out the wheels forum for some ideas...

Dont paint, powder coat. RFTs suck on real bumpy roads because you'll just wind up with tons of bubbles and they cost a lot. Get the BMW spare and get a set of rims with non-RFTs.

Noob question but where does the spare go? I don't see anywhere in my car I can fit a spare (hidden).

There is no spot for a spare because the car came with RFTs.

You'll have to put it in the trunk, or take a risk and just carry a tire repair kit.

I'd leave it stock until I can get a set of good aftermarket wheels. Painting it will just cheapen the look IMO.

I think even if you paint/powdercoat the wheels you won't be satisfied for long, and as someone mentioned the wheels will just look dirty all the time. I've always hated the 15" wheels that came on the 3er, they make a good car look bad, get rid of em!

Gah... just looked at the VRM website... those are some nice wheels... the V714 I really like.

But there are 2 problems:

1. How the heck I'm gonna get them here in China??

2. 18" is probably the biggest I can go without risk of damaging from bad roads.

3. I must have RFT so that's gonna cost a few hundred more...

Do the VRM come in 18s?
