255 square vs 235/265 staggered

Hi all,

has anyone driven both of these setups? In terms of performance (i.e. lap times) which is the better choice?

Thanks

255's all around would be better IN THEORY, but there is one small problem...

Unless the offset value of your front wheels is perfect you'll rub on the outer fender or the inner strut and wheel liners. Hell, even with the perfect offset, you will still rub on the wheel liners depending on the BRAND of tire you choose.

So to answer you question in a more realistic way...

A 235/265 setup will work much better fitment wise.

Now some guys have made the 255 square setup work by slightly modifying their wheel liners to clear some of the 255 tires that run a little 'big'. (slightly larger than the rated size)

I'm not suggesting this myself, I'm just mentioning what other people have done to expand the fitment options for your car.

Personally, I never recommend modifying the car to make the wheels or tires fit...but that's just me.
