Problems with ipod and sound

My connection(6fl?) in my arm rest seems to be very sensitive to anything and the sound fades in and out. Is there any way to adjust this or do I have a faulty wire? Will the dealer replace this under warranty?
It seems everytime I touch it(or just open the armrest) i hear static and it doesn't seem like the sound is always coming out of all my speakers.

Any suggestions? thanks

Same thing here. My car was just picked up for our favorite HPFP issue and I mentioned that as a secondary issue. We'll see what they say.

Got the car back today and it seems like a new cable resolved the issue.

However, based upon the design of the cable and the fact that it has to be kinked in order to close the armrest, I don't give it much time before it causes problems again. A connector with a 90 degree bend would have cost an additional 5 cents...

And have you had any issues with the new wire yet?

Are you guys using an iPod with that or are you talking about a regular USB thumb drive extension cable?

I'm using thumb drives (can't stand Apple) and I'm having serious issues with my 6FL randomly cutting out the left channels. Only fix seems to be to disconnect it, let it sit a few hours, and plug in a different one. I'm starting to wonder if the extension cord I'm using has something to do with it. But I have to wait a few hours for the electronics to reset to I can test this shiny new cable.

So i took the car in for the hpfp and told them about my ipod wires and the sound going in/out.
Get this, the SA tried to tell me I have an after-market cable and he wanted to charge me $90 for a new "BMW" cable. Why in the world would I buy a new cable if mine was under warranty and 2) If I paid $400 for the ipod hookup when I bought my car, why would I change the cable on my own? I told him that is the exact cord that came with my car and he said "I'll have to look into that and get back to you". I'm about to drive up there and show him my invoice from when I bought my car in '07 if he tries this BS with me again.
