Well done! I am very interested to hear how it goes!
Did you test a 335i and 335d before ordering? if so how did they compare? I reckon you must have one of the first 335d in the UK! No car mag has even tested this car/engine combination yet!

Yes, i also have just traded in an 05 M3 convertible. I have to take it a bit easy, but the mid range is incredible and the engine is so quiet, you just look at the speedo needle and watch it fly, as i say i have only driven it for 150 miles and the fuel aspect attracts me. With the M3 i was lucky to combine 21mpg, so far and without being run-in it is registering 32mpg and i haven't done much motorway yet. Where abouts are you i am Camberley way, and yes i believe it is one of the first in the UK on the road, its good to get the looks...

Sounds good! Do you think the mid range is on a par with the M3?
In the 330d I can get 40+ on a long motorway run (circa 80-90) and on cruise control at 70-75 I can get the range up to over 600 miles!! Nice to know but it doesn't happen often!
I would think the fuel consupmtion on the 335d would be quite similar particularly on a motorway cruise.
I am in Cookham and work in Reading.
I am tempted to trade the 330d in for a 335d...perhaps nxt year! (early!)
That is a nice car you have - keep us updated on how it performs ...particularly after it is run in! Intersted in how it compares performance wise to the M3!

Question #1

How's the steering with that bulky engine in the front? I assume you don't have Active Steering?

I also ordered a 335d but I'm not sure what to do with the active steering. I've read a test of an E92 325i and they complained the car had heavy steering. That's why I took Active Steering, but then I've read it takes away the sportiness. Now I want to remove AS again from my order ....

Question #2

Is it fast?
Would be nice if you could compare it with a 335i.

re the avtive steering, my agent said don't bother it ruins the feel of the car, i don't find it heavt at all.

re speed i am still taking it easy, but left my brother for dead in his Audi 225hp TT and i wasn't pushing it.

From driving the M3 for the past 18 months the first thing i notice was how resposive it is. the M3 had to be worked this you just squeeze the throttle and its all there. amazing

well done you've beat me by a few dayz...

I see you have gone for 19"'s how is the ride compared to the M3.

I have stuck with the std 17"s as I thought the 19" was a step too far with sports suspension and I don't like the look of the 18"'s

..and how is that auto shift..

can't wait until Saturdays 140 mile drive home from Cooper Thames Ditton

THE RIDE IS NO WAY NEAR AS ROUGH AS THE M3, MY WIFE WOULDN'T EVEN DRIVE THE M3, SHE TOOK THE 335D OUT LASTNIGHT AND FELL IN LOVE WITH IT, OF COURSE YOU DO NOTICE LARGE BUMPS BUT YOU COME TO EXPECT THAT WITH SO LITTLE RUBBER ON THE RIMS, NOT AS HARSH AS THE M3 THOUGH.
