Deer vs. 328i

So as I was coming home from work on Thursday. I slammed into a deer doing about 65mph. I was lucky because I got the adjustor to look at the car 12 hrs after the accident and the car was in the shop within 24hrs of the accident. 5 days of work. Should have the car back on Friday with $4,300 of repairs. I got a sweeeeeeeeeeeet PT Cruiser as a loaner car! NOT

Looks like you sort of sideswiped the deer as opposed to hitting it full on. At 65 mph I think the bimmer woulda been toast!

Doesn't look like there's a clear winner here. :P

So is the deer still around to brag about the encounter?

Considering that my bumper slammed the deer in the head. It is safe to say that Bambi has seen better days. I hit the poor animal and the car was on rails. Like a true champ.

Glad you're okay. Colliding with a deer at 65mph is often deadly.

Wow, that could have been a LOT worse. Glad you're alright.

The only positive about driving a PT Cruiser for a week will be reminding yourself how much better the BMW really is.

Never hit a deer, but I did hit a small owl hovering over the road after sunset in the desert outside Tuscon at 85 mph. My windshield hit the poor little guy and I got to say that the noise of the collision sounded like a bomb going off.

Indeed. One of my friends strapped a camera to the side of his bike for some fun down some back roads and managed to catch a glimpse of the dear that jumped out in front of him at about the same speed. The wonders of full body leather. He got up and walked away from that wreck. Deer and bike weren't quite as lucky.

welcome to western pennsylvania...been there done that. the deer i hit in my old car decided to barrel roll down the side of my car hitting the front fender, smashing the drivers side door, then crushing the rear quarter. damage ended up being $2100, but that was also on an acura integra.

just glad to see you didn't get hurt. good luck getting the car fixed.

Came here for the inevitable gross photos of the fox embedded in a BMW engine bay. Leaving slightly disappointed.

But I have to agree you're damn lucky for having so little damage and not getting hurt. I'm quite surprised that's only $4300 in damage. I would have guessed more.

Ahhh, yesss you know its fall in CT when the Deer based IEDs start to occur.

On a side note:

"Deer crashes result in at least $1.1 billion a year in vehicle damage, says the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety."

...and some may want to check their insurance policies because some insurance companies now exclude Deer strikes.
