Angry unable to charge itouch in with build in Ipod integration

Hi,

i recently got the itouch 3rd generation. I found it very frustrating. I can plug the Ipod touch into the BMW ipod plug.. without any problem. The only thing that is weird is that the new 3rd generation seems to have problem charging the ipod. it can play the music through the 6fl.. but just refuse to charge.

Error message on the ipod is: charge from this accessies not allowed..

anyone else have this problem?

Yes, same message appears if you plug in an iPhone. The USB port in the center arm rest does not have enough current. Take your USB charger and plug it in the glove box USB port, it should charge. I charge my iPhone in my car this way.

I swap the cable with my wife's x5... it seems not to drain the battery.. but again.. i found a post where the battery of the ipod falls below 80% it will not charge it.. and get that error message...

right now.. the itouch is at 100% this morning.. and plug into the y cable from my wify's x5.. it seems to be using the power from the y plug.. and not draining the charge from itouch battery.

This is probably due to the different voltages required to charge that gen of the itouch. I resolved this on my ipod nano 4th gen by buying an adapter from scosche. Look it up online, should run $25. It works for the ipod nano and iphone 3g and probably for yours as well.
