East Bay BMW, Pleasanton, Ca :-(

I drove by East Bay BMW to check out the new 328i & 335i coupe's. As you ALL know, they are amazing cars thumbsup: I spoke to a CA who will remain anonymous. Let's just call him Howard Z I told him I was interested in the 335i Sedan and wanted to trade in my new (300 miles) 2006 330i sedan :rocks: He had my car appraised for $36k:mad: Needless to say, I'm going to keep my 330i because there is NO WAY I'm going to take an $8k loss in only 4 months Although the 335i sedan would be an amazing car to have, I'm still very happy to have my 330i A couple of years from now, BMW will have something better and faster than the 335i. For those of you who are planning on trading in your recently purchased BMW's, be prepared to take a loss. Just some words of wisdom......See ya

so why the knock on east bay? I like those guys over there.

the problem isn't with them, it's with trading in a new car.

words of wisdom? I would call it "common sense"

4months / 300miles, we should get a poll going to see who's owned an E90 325/330 the shortest amount of time that are contemplating throwing money down the shitter to get the 328/335

and, btw, enough of this "wah wah, my car lost so much of its value in XXX months, but I want the 328/335 so badly" thread already

canucklion, the only reason the car has 300 miles is because I have 4 other cars I love the 330i and am happy with the purchase. I was just seeing what kind of numbers I could get for a trade in. Obviously, selling to a private party would be a better deal.

an even better deal would be to keep the car longer, so the depreciation of your 330 'dilutes' over time. You loose a big chunk of your car's value when you drive it off the lot.

But seeing that you're probably loaded since you said you got 4 other cars, you can probably afford to do it, and if you can, more power to you

Ward...............u r sooo right Well all know cars are not the best investment especially if you are trading it in after a few months. By the way, Easy Bay BMW is an excellent dealership. I bought my wife's 325i from James Wittenberg there. He is an outstanding salesman, although I'm not sure he's still there We did the deal/negotiating over the phone. It was in November of '04 and I got a steal on the price

east bay always low balls first... when trading in they initally offer very little and when buying they initially offer very high and tell you that theres nothing they can do about it. However, after I left the dealership they were begging me to come back saying they'd meet any offer i'd got somewhere else. I said no, i wouldnt do that to the other person who gave me a good deal, and they started offering an even BIGGER discount than the competition. When I refused again, he got mad and talked about how he invested time in me and how I wasted his work.

My feeling is, if he would have given me an honest bid/chance to work out a good price in the first place, I would have never left. So it IS somewhat their fault. At Pleasanton they like to play games with their customers. This isn't just 1 incident either, i've been there twice. Why I refused a better deal? I could have saved a couple hundred dollars going with East Bay, but what would I have to look forward to when I need service? What kind of games would they play then?

my advice to the guy trading in, is if you need to do it throught east bay bmw, call back and tell them that offer wasnt good enough and see what they have to say.

[edit] Howard Z... lol. Very anonymous

They gave me a good amount off msrp for my 335i through my credit union membership. I test drove both those cars this past weekend. I can see how'd you'd be upset though, maybe its BMW's fault, not the dealership?

Why do you even bother to have a car if you only drive 300 miles in 4 months? Even if you trade in your car now for a 335i, you'll probably just end up sitting in the car and make "Vroom..Vroom" sound
