Double din fascia now available...

I saw this whilst looking around today, I have seen these in Japan over the last few years but never from anyone who could speak English.

Not here....most of our dash kits are $30 or less. But that DD Kit is new, so there's prbably only the one manufacturer, and they can charge whatever they want. It is sweet though. I'd much rather have a DD touchscreen than the single din I have now.

Well I know the E46 fascias that Rich makes are around $150, they only tend to be cheap when the cars are double din already.

Rich, you could grab one of these and use it as a template mate, the finish on yours will probably be better than on this.

This is very promising, thanks for sharing gIzzE.

$200 is not too much to ask IMO. The tooling for making these kits is very expensive and the market isn't as big as one would think. A lot of people like their OEM stereos and may never change out.

I'd love to see one of these installed, not sure I'm a fan of how the stereo is inset like that.

Wouldn't changing that unit will void the warranty..

Well you would loose your warranty on your radio of course, but then if it isn't in the car who cares??

One thing, you may have to route the oem radio to the trunk and wire up power and can, just so the car doesn't throw a wobbly when being scanned at the dealers or being coded etc.

I'm almost done with mine.
That one's been out for a while but it requires hacking up part of your dash and your climate controls. I just can't justify doing that to a 50k car... especially mine!

I'll have pics of my bezel very very soon.

There's more than enough room for the climate control and a double-DIN. Take my word for it.

That looks hot!

Do you lose the steering wheel's audio/dial control over the radio?

Depends on the radio, most have adapters that give you steering wheel controls back.

I know it is easier to keep the climate in the same place, but don't you think the screen is then a bit low Rich??

Having used it for a while I can honestly say it's really not too low. Plus it's within perfect reach of your finger while your hand it on the shifter.

The other alternative requires hacking the dash and the climate controls (to make them fit below the radio) and I'm not about to do that to my car.
