Decision Time- OEM Sirius Module or Plug and Play

Found a bmw dealership who would sell me the Sirius Module I need for my car (ran the vin # to double check). I can get it for $405, but the install is expensive. However, it would work perfectly with the factory stereo, and I would retain the steering wheel controls.

A second option is the XM Commander which is a very very small xm unit that I could have installed in the ashtray right in front of the shifter. Alot cheaper, but w/o the steering wheel controls.

My car is 06 330i w/ premium package-Any thoughts?

So if no iDrive, put the KOS A300 controller where the iDrive would have gone. Now you can add HD, XM/Sirius, iPod, and Bluetooth as you like... plug it into the aux jack and away you go.

Checked out the KOS A300 and it is not for me. I am not a big ipod listener in my car just b/c I get tired of the same songs over and over. Also to get XM or Sirius you would have to buy an extra part.

I went and bought the Sirius OEM unit today. I should have it by next week, so hopefully the install goes well!

Install shouldn't be more than like $200 from the dealer. An hour to reprogram and an hour to put it in. Its not a horrible price for the unit though.

Good price for the unit BUT I'd do the install myself (which I did lol). Already had a Sportster 4 head united and used the vent clips to mount it. Wires are hiding and door lock/hazard lights buttons are not blocked. I like having the headunit centered so I can see the songs and stations.

Is the install complicated to do? I saw a DIY guide on here, but i've never done anything like that before....

I can't wait to get it working btw, I originally wanted to replace the factory head unit, but apparently you can't so this is the next best thing.

My install

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282590

Check out the link. I documented my install. Very straight forward.

PM if you have questions.

*Note that I changed the location of the Sirius to a vent clip mount. Much cleaner look. This is a good option if you're willing to dish out the money for it http://www.kudausa.com/kuda_mount_an...2006-3-38.html. Scroll to the bottom.
