325i owners. Power question- Bog with A/C and passengers?

Just wondering if the 215hp has a significant bogged down feeling if the A/C is on and there is a passenger (s) in the car. If I am looking to upgrade to a I6 from a 4cylinder I want to make sure this is a feeling that I don't have to experience again.

The A/C on just kills the driveability, and with a passenger it becomes a real nuisance. Thanks.

I haven't noticed an issue with only one passenger and AC, but if the back seat is full it will be noticeable. The 6mt is geared low in 1st so it helps step away from the line but it is definitely no torque monster (better than a 4 cyl though).

I agree, there is a noticeable slowing but there is a slower which actually leads to disappointment in a new car which is my concern.

I should have addressed even more specifically, in the auto transmission how is this?

Thanks

My 325 feels livelier than ever since my software was updated, however, I have not yet checked the A/C power drain.

What I can tell you is that my E90 325 did not suffer any power drain or bogged down feeling when I did use the A/C last Jan - April (our hot time). I was most delighted as my old e46 323 and e36 320 were terrible (320 much worse) with the a/c on.

I had 4 adults in my car today (my family and myself) and the car felt as nimble as if I were alone in the car. No problems with load.

I expect that based on my previous experience with the a/c that I will not feel any strain on the engine once the weather really heats up and I use the a/c again.

Actually, most of the BMWs are made that way that the AC on does not affect them too much (SW). Of course, a big load will affect it. I personally don't feel much difference with the AC on or off. A friend of mine has a e36 328 and he has noticed the same thing.

if the auto seems a bit too sluggish with all the extra mass, try popping it into sport mode. Works well for me.

The only time I ever felt my car acting sluggish was when I had a completely full car (That being 5 people all weighing about 165+ pounds each) and a trunk full of wood. (Bonfire! Hell YEah!) But Once I downloaded the wood, car felt fine. Still a little slow... but nothing to get to annoyed over.

I think the AC in our cars actually disengages under heavy acceleration (there is a magnetic clutch in the pulley wheel).

4 passengers +gas =you notice
AC = not enough to notice
