phone question ???
not getting much f/ BMW NA. i asked them why BMW is sooooon sloooow coming out w/ a current phone list. i have Verizon as my carrier, and the phone list f/ BMW NA is SAD.
ok, i don't need internet on my phone, so blackberry and the $35 extra per month are out. got a computer in the car. this leaves 4 phones left to pick from. of those, 2 are discontinued, one has been updated, (enve 2 is now enve 3) so i guess it will be ok. so this leaves one approved phone left officially by BMW NA. i put the question to them and got a phone call a week later. they said they are always working to up date the list. what a bunch of BULL ! the tech working on this must be on vacation 50 weeks a year. so here is where i need the help. i need a rugged phone because of work. so i'm seriously looking at the Casio Boulder rubber coated cell phone. one of my co-workers has the boulder so we paired it, called f/ it and received calls and both worked well. also the address book loaded. seemed to be ok. but my 1st phone, 2 years ago (LG Chocolate ) did this also but it caused problems w/ the cars software. IE. would lose radio presets, seat & mirror memory. so i ditched the phone for and LG Venus. now it's time for new every two. so will the boulder work, and or other non blackberry phones that work w/out flaws? looking for NEWER phones to chose from. thanks everyone. this is why this forum is so important for bmw owners! i tried this question in the electronics awhile ago but got no answers on the boulder, which is my 1st pick because of my job. |

My LG enV Touch is 100% compatible even though it's not listed. The list is just tested/confirmed phones IIRC. It doesn't mean anything else won't work. Bluetooth is just a standard protocol.

I've paired 5 different phones with my car over the past 2 years and only one of them is on BMW's phone list. 4 of the 5 worked flawlessly. The last one worked but didn't pull up the phone book. If you keep waiting on BMW to update their list, good luck with that!

Casio® EXILIM
so here is the update of my ongoing phone dilemma, in short...
casio just came out w/ the "EXILIM" w/ the same type of military rugged specs that the casio boulder has. so in the past 2 weeks verizion has taken the boulder out and put the Casio® EXILIM, in. ANY other BMW owners have the EXILIM and bluetoothed it w/out any issues ? ANYONE ????? : |
