Corvette or the 335?
Not the Z06 but just the "plain" one. Might be able to get one out the door for about the same as my 335 coupe. I've always wanted one and now with GM's new protection package I'm tempted. The 335 will be my 3rd BMW and I'm thinking maybe it's time for a change...or not You guys have any thoughts on this...anybody test drive the 335 and the vette?

Thanks
Yes I have one on order, but I can always get a refund. The M3 would be a great compromise, but more$$. I think you all are right, the 335 is the best of both worlds. I'll stop having buyers remorse and remove this post soon.

yo, i valet cars for a living and have driven basically everything.
The vette feels very very cheap and mushy when compaired to how "solid" a bmw feels in general. Im not a fan of american cars, u can never go wrong with a bmw remember that |

if you are not going to use the car as an every day driver.....go with the C6. The interior is light years away from the older C5, and the brut force of that V8 is amazing. If you need practicality, then go with the 335. I don't think that you can really go wrong with either choice. Let us know!

Get the 335i, unless you are over 50, then get the Vette.

What the LS engines always offered which no BMW could was big time low end torque. From all accounts, this new engine simply takes that advantage away entirely.
Is the vette a more purpose-built car at the end of the day? Yes, of course. Are you really going to track it though? If so, get the Z51 package and you'll be ready to roll. Otherwise, I'd personally prefer the BMW. |

Unless its a Z06 and just a weekend car, you are better of with the 335i. I love the new Z06 and would buy if I had the dough but in your situation, the 335i is the winner.

335 is a sign of class... vette not so much.
you will regret the vette purchase in 6 months... not the case with a bmw. this is coming from a past vette owner myself. the new vette does have some european flare (improved) which aids but its no quality built bmw.

ive noticed quite a few women don't like vettes anymore. even heard some say they wouldnt date a guy if he drove one. i think it projects a kind of sleazy 'player' image for a young guy. For an older guy it's a mid life crisis image. If you're gonna buy this for you alone and it's going to be tracked etc, i'd still go for the vette though. the 335 is a nice image/peformance compromise but not going to be as good at the track as a vette.

Lol @ the vette bashing in this thread.
Its not that bad. Overall yes a 335i would combine best of everything. But if you've got a decent car to handle everyday tasks, you can't go wrong with the vette. If this is going to be your only car then the 335i is for you. |

The absolute show-stopper for me for the Chevy is the low-rent interior. When is GM going to wake up and realize that you can't put a rental car-quality interior into a serious sports car? The seats are atrocious, the gauges look silly, and the quality of the materials.. well let's just say "quality" should not be used in the same sentence.
I'd give the interior a serious look before deciding you want to spend that kind of coin on the thing.

well i just got rid of my 2005 C6 (midly modified 440bhp). As a daily driver the C6 is not a great car to own. It also feels as if all the bolts in the car are "loose" and handles a little sloopy.
the 335i (I bought last week) has a very refined feel to it. Very solid and the handling compared to the vette is light years ahead... now I will tell you I had GOBS of low end torque in the vette and it was FAST... alot faster than the 335i. Also I wouldnt say the 335i doesnt have some lag....but it just doesnt have that crazy all over the road load roar and grunt of the V8. So what are you going to do with the car ? Drive it everyday or just jet around on the weekends and evenings out? If thats the case get the vette make it loud and fast. if you are going to be traveling and spending alot of time in the car ..the 335i ...hell GM doesnt even offer bluetooth yet |

I test drove the regular Vette - 400 hp. True, the interior had a few cheap spots - e.g., the e-brake handle looked like it came from a Cavalier. But the handling was not loose or sloppy. That car handled like it was on rails and had the torque of a locomotive. It would be a blast to own, but in the end its just too damned garish.
I'd be driving a Porsche if I didn't need the back seat, so that's what I'd look to as an alternative for the 'Vette-- not sure the 335 is really comparable, as the 'Vette is really a sports car, not a sedan. |
