Question of 3.5mm audio out into amplifier?

Is it possible, to take a 3.5mm audio output (from my GPS), and convert it into an RCA signal using a cable like this -
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00024VU5I

Then take those RCA's and using a splitter like this

Join them into the front channel of my amplifier, so that signal from the GPS will then come through the front speakers

(I'm using LOC's from the speaker outs on my original amp)
