I was driving home from a knee doctors appointment (because ive been having problems with my knees for a while but luckily no tears so thats good) so i decide to make a left at the traffic light because im going out later that night and want to stop at mobile to get a pack of orbit haha. So i make the left turn terranchal down pours like you couldnt see so i reduce the speed from 50 down to 35 (a safe driving speed in the rain, maybe even too fast) im approaching the light which was red but just turned green what a black mazda 6 does an illegal lane change and cuts me off. Thats not even the bad part, i guess she didnt realize people were stopped but as soo as she cut me off she slammed on her brakes. Meanwhile im approaching the light with my foot gently on the brake slowing down at a normal pace because there was plenty of room between the original car in front of me and me. Well since she slammed on her brakes and cut the distance from about 20 feet to 5 feet i had to slam on my brakes too. Well let me say thats the one time in your life that you pray and you are honestly praying harder then ever before. The whole time i said if the brakes are going to work one time let it be now. So guess what, the car slows down comes within about 1 foot of her and then the brakes lock and the car skids forward right into the back of her. She literally had no damage, just white paint on the back of her black car which i wiped off and her car was fine. My car on the other hand, the front bumper is pushed back about a half of inch so the hood overhangs. Her mom gets there and starts to say how its my fault, which i guess since i hit her in the back it can look that way, but then she got all bitchy with me and was like i dont want to call the police out here but since your being very disorderly i might have to blah blah blah. then she starts getting into technicalities with me. So im like lady if you want to get technical your daughter made an illegal lane change thus cutting me off and then she slammed on her brakes, technically its her fault. she continued to blah blah blah and said how shes going to bring it to her body shop but she doesnt see why her car will cost more then maybe 300 bucks. I was flipping out at the point. There are no dents i said lady i will buy a bucket, soap, and sponge and wash that part of the car for you, thatll cost me about 10 bucks theres no damage. Meanwhile I brought my car to bmw, 265 for a new front bumper, not bad, heres the killer, 600 for labor!!!!!!
Im going to go to a couple other body shops today to get some estimates but hopefully they can do better.

Ohhhh man! I would've lost it big time [my temper]. That's just the worst case scenario in accidents because everybody's going to say oh its your fault.

I'm sorry to hear that, good job keeping your cool though. She did cut you off though, you had enough room to stop originally and she is the one who jeopordized it. Make her pay for this. I'd love to hear what she has to say.

ill get pics when I'm home, right now I'm at a body shop waiting for the estimate. I shoulda gotten an accident report done, but I mean its her word against mine n she did get hit from the back so basically I woulda been fucked big time. I don't know if its to late or anything now, but I truely know it wasn't my fault which is the reason this is so upsetting. O and I barely kept my cool, at one point I actually yelled at her mom but then decided to tone it down because that wouldn't get us anywhere. All I can say is that moms a BITCH!

I would have still called the cops on the accident. I would stay calm and explain the whole scenario to the cops. The mom can bitch all she wants but I'd rather deal with the cops than her.

Pity there were no witnesses. I just gave a telephone deposition regarding an accident I had seen (right in front of me).

I was in the left lane driving southbound on the service road of an expressway here and there was an SUV type car in the right lane.

As the light changed, the SUV suddenly changed lanes (i.e. into the left lane). I was sufficiently far enough behind at that point so that had no impact on me.

What happened next is what was scary.

The SUV driver braked momentarily as the light turned red. Then - from the LEFT LANE (which essentially was the third lane from the right) she ran the light and made a RIGHT turn. Unfortunately, an Audi TT was already in the intersection (the Audi had a green light).

It was clearly the SUV driver's fault so I gave my name and phone number to the Audi driver.

haha, was waiting for this to come up. this makes 2, one was legally the other persons fault, in my schools parking lot, he got a 150 dollar ticket for illegal left turn. and this one, well its up in the air. i honestly know it was her fault, but nothing can be done now, since there were no witnesses

actually my parents arent mad at me, they know it wasnt my fault but hey i cant do too much about it now.

Sorry to hear what happend to your car,it's more frustrating since you weren't at fault.

that stinks. we will never be able to pull off a decent meet because everyone down here keeps getting into accidents. man people in florida need to learn how to drive.
