I had RFs in my last car and loved them but I also love JL. If I were you I'd just save up for 1 12w6. I also wouldn't put it in a ported box because I like my bass tight.

The Punch sub can be wired to 2 ohm so it would get 500W. The JL sub only has 4 ohm resistance so you would only give it 250W - not enough. You already have the RF sub, so why don't you just use it? |

This is kind of a wanking question. If we don't know what you listen to, how you listen to it, what kind of system user/abuser you are, no one can answer this question usefully.
Both companies make product that is reasonably reliable, and both specialize in making product that trades off some sound quality for some young-male-listening-to-rap-at-11 durability. If you are looking to listen to a live recording of the Newport Jazz Festival, I wouldn't use either of these. Ditto the 25th Anniversary release of Famous Blue Raincoat. But if you're listening to nonstop rap, don't listen to my recommendations, because I have no value to add (I really haven't done those systems in years and I have no valid experience to share). |

Ported enclosures actually maintain better control of the sub at and over the tuning frequency. It's only below the tuning frequency that the sub starts to lose control. Fail. All the amount of power you throw at a sub determines is how loud it will play and even then you have to take into consideration the efficency of the sub and the enclosure type and volume. |
