mp3 CDs on 07 e92 w/o iDrive

Hello all,

i tried burning an mp3 cd through windows vista, and all i get are disc read errors

I used a 700mb blank cd and put in 650 mb worth of songs all categorized into folders like so:

ROOT > ARTIST > ALBUM > SONG

Is there something im doing wrong? For those that got it to work, what burning software did you use?

Thanks!

I use Nero 8. In which case I've learned that setting the file system to "ISO 9660 + Joliet" works in both the indash and trunk cd changer (if you have one), but truncates the filenames displayed. Setting it to "ISO 9660:1999" allows longer filenames but won't play in the changer. In addition the file name length should be "Max. of 31 characters (Level 2)" and character set "ISO". Also multisession should be turned off. Beyond that nothing else has to be changed.

I use CD-RWs so I don't feel wasteful about changing even a single song and reburning, and in my case I need 7 at a time.

Concerning Vista's built-in burning capability, when you said you burned an Mp3 CD, did it actually have an option that said Mp3 CD (vs just data cd)? Also is there an option to finalize the disc?

Thanks for the responses...

So i scrapped using the vista data disc option, and used Roxio instead. With Roxio, i was able to finalize the disc after burning, and that worked perfectly

150ish songs in a disc, too bad it's not a dvd player lol

If you had iDrive, you would have had the option to pop out the navi dvd and use that drive for mp3s.
