335i Top Speed

I have read both that it is limited to 150mph and 155mph. Not that it really matters all that much here in the states but just to satisfy my curiosity, which is it?

thanks

I don't know if there has been an independent test for top speed.

I wouldn't trust BMWs numbers.

i think the e90 with ZSP has a top speed of 155mph. i was able to do 150mph during my ED, but ran out of road to hit 155mph. its electronically goverened anyway right? so e92 will probably be around the same top speed.

Mr. Silver, can you tell me the highest speed that the 335 can achieve in each gear?

The reason for my question is that during my test drive last week, I put the car in manual mode, and it seemed like the car was revving much lower in 3rd gear that it does on my 330i. One feature that would make a manual tranny much more drivable is taller 1st and 2nd gears... so, if you have any insights, it would be much appreciated. (Given that you're breaking the car in, I realize that you may not have first-hand information on this, but perhaps you happen to know the answer, being a 335 owner?).

For example, I believe the 330 goes 37mph in 1st, 64mph in 2nd and 96mph in 3rd.

Congratulations on an awesome car.

I won't take it up past 5K RPMs for another 600 miles.

With the exception of Porsche, all German car manufacturers limit their speed to 250 Km/h.

Thise limit does not apply to specialty tuner shops or niche performance cars, since it is a voluntary agreement among the main German manufacturers.

In the USA the top speed is 120 mph, because that is the speed you will be at when the damn cops pull you over and throw you in jail.

Not true. The problem lies with the unexpected such as animals, other vehicles coming out of nowhere, etc.

the roads in Europe are awsome. very well maintained and smooth espcially if you take a toll road. not like the crapy pot-holed strips of asphalt we call roads here in the states.

the attitudes of german drivers are much different because everyone there is expected to yield if they're going too slow in the fast lane, just high beam and you have a clear path. unlike here in the states where most mind sets are "I'm going the speed limit, stop tailgating me and go around", as you can see, it's the cutting in and out of traffic that causes accidents, but if everyone who is going slow would just move over....unfortunately, to get a drivers license at least here in CA, does not require you to get on the freeway. so no one is ever taught how to yeild on the freeways (you know, the old grandmas going like 50 in the fast lane when its wide open).

anyway, i only went that fast because there was a long ass stretch of straight road ahead of me (like 10 miles or so), if it was curvy, i would not have attempted that.

Top Speed 335i

If you order the sport package it is 155; without it it is 130. It is not too hard to do above 130 on the autobahn, but I wouldn't try it in the US. My 335i is ready to be ordered for Euro Deliv, but I have no intention of exceeding 120 mph, even though it will have the sport pack. it is even scary on a track at 140. BTDT.
