Remote turn on wire for Logic7 system
Hey everyone! I'm having an amp and sub installed later today. The installer said something about adding a switch for me to turn the amp on and off, but I have to figure there is a 12v remote lead in the back that he can tap onto. (Like the one for the standard system, pin 10)
FYI...the amp is an alpine m-350 mono Does anyone know where this is in a logic 7 system? I'd rather not have a extra wire run to the front if I can have him tap something in the back. Thanks! |

I should have said that I already did a search. There is a ton of threads with those key words but nothing that says "use this wire..."
As I said before, there was a thread that showed pin 10 in the non logic systems, but I can't find anything for a logic 7. If anyone knows what wire to use in the trunk please let me know. We are not touching the head unit so I want a place in the trunk to tap into. |

Pin 13 in the back of the OEM HU is the remote wire in all the OEM systems. Pin 10 is the exact same wire but at the OEM amp connector in the non-Logic7 system. Sometimes the wire will work directly with aftermarket amps, sometimes a 12V relay will have to be used -with the OEM remote as the trigger- to turn amps on, all depends of the amp chosen. I have posted that answer around 7 times already, and the second thread in that search link above is the most recent answer. This is number 8. |

Dude, I have no problem with reading. I saw your post (#2 on that search list) but it only said that it was #13 on the HU. It said nothing about it being #10 on the pug in the back. |

There's always a pin 13 remote regardless of OEM system, so that's what I posted in that thread. Pin 10 remote only applies to the non-Logic7 system OEM amp connector, which does not apply to your case.

The installer is working on my system right now. (Ron @ The finishing touch in Morristown) He said he has to run a wire to the HU for a remote turn on since it is L7 and the connector to the back is fiber optic.

There's something wrong with the concept that you can just jump on the internet and ask a question about anything and demand an answer within 30 minutes, or else. Isn't that a little self centered? What did people do before they had internet forums? They paid people for knowledge - they didn't demand answers and insult them afterward. Technic I suggest you set up a paypal account and whenever I have a stupid audio question that's been answered numerous times before, I'll be happy to send you $5 for your time to answer it. I have a few saved up right now that I have to start searching for.
By the way OP dude, any idiot installer could have run a wire from the 12v outlet in the center console to the back with no problem at all - it's very easy and it's a switched outlet. Of course then you would have had to do a search on how to disassemble the center console to get to the wiring. |

I used a low voltage trigger to avoid running wires to the dash. There is no 12v remote wire in the trunk.

There is though. Its a small little black wire that runs to nothing. Its what we hooked into my car with. Its on the driver side on the fender well, kind of in that cluster. We searched for a 'hot' wire and found it with a voltage regulator. Trust me, a small little black wire that really doesnt go to anything. I had found it in a thread months ago, but cant find it now.

Not sure if you can see it here or not. Forgot I had posted this thread.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=pdx-5+idmax There is a little black wire in that cluster of wires. Its maybe 6-8" long and goes no where. Get a voltometer, whatever its called check for it like this. I might have the little wire because I have CA?? Either way, its in that cluster, perhaps that black sleeve, but its there. We searched for an hour for it. It only stays on for about 3 minutes or so then shuts off. It boots the amp up when a door is opened, car unlocked, etc. It shuts off a couple minutes after the car is shut off. We tested for that. Sorry I cant be more specific, but trust me, its there. I dont have a wire running into the cab of my car aftermarket wise. |
