335d remapping in the U.S.?
I haven't even received the car yet and I am asking about this...
ANyway, I have been reading so much about the remapping options. Am I right in assuming that there are two types: the application of a new software image on the existing chip and actual chip replacement? Is it safe to assume that remapping images is ideal? Also, seems like every site that deals with remapping is in the UK. Is this just not common in the states? How is it possible that these remaps achieve better fuel efficiency? I have always been led to believe that with all else equal, increasing power of an engine results in loss of fuel efficiency. With the extra power, do all the elements of the complicated system that is a BMW hold up or does remapping inevitably lead to wear and tear and less engine/vehicle life? I might be interested to know where in west coast I might be able to get a reliable, trusted, tried and true remapping. thanks, brian |

We enjoy gasoline in the US. Increasing boost puts wear and tear on the engine no matter what the application. You can use an external chip or a flash. Its a lot more common (and easier to do) in the states on trucks. I'm sure you can find a flash somewhere if you look hard enough though. Otherwise you'll have to send your ECU international.

335d USA map
Is this definitely a USA 335d remap? I heard the US model 335d has a new cpu. Also, the exhaust is different than in europe.
Your website lists the 335d as having 286hp stock and this is the UK spec, as the US spec is lower due to the different exhaust filter system. Can you confirm as I believe a USA cpu will not accept a Euro map. Thanks. |

I would like to know if you have a US 335d tune as well. The website doesn't specify and seems like its a Euro spec tune judging from the hp other d's that are listed.

I would definitely like to wait and see if this claim is true:
"Increases of up to 40% in power and torque, and up to a 20% improvement in fuel economy are achievable as well as a reduction in CO2 emissions helping you to save money and reduce your carbon footprint." I know there is lots of info on the modded Euro spec versions, but I just don't see any data points on the US version except for one guy that posted on here in another thread talking about that VAC module. brian |
