Intentional Speedo Inaccuracy and Odometer

Guys and gals,

I've done a search and found a variety of talk about the intentionally inaccurate speedometer and our ability to determine true speed through the service menu, but couldn't find the answer to this question - Does the odometer use the intentionally inaccurate speed, or the true speed to determine mileage?

Has anyone tested this out by traveling a known distance and comparing it to the resulting odometer change (or by some other means)?

I'm curious whether our odometers are all off by about 5% because of the speedo inaccuracy.

odometer is not hooked up to the speedo. It is accurate.
