Satellite radio- BMW Sirius Tuner or XM Commander (plug and play radio)

Been doing research for adding satellite radio to my 330i w/ premium package. It has the logic audio so replacing the head unit is out of the question.

I've narrowed it down to two options. The first is the XM Commander. It would be about $300 when everything was said and done. It is really small and would not immediately even be noticed and would be in the ashtray right in front of the shifter. The main downside is i would loose my steering wheel controls which I use all the time.

My BMW is not pre-wired for Satellite but I found a DIY thread on here to get around that. It would basically add on a Sirius tuner to my factory deck. I don't know if it would work, and I'm guessing it would cost about $750 to get it done...

Any thoughts?

There should be a factory add on kit with the wiring and the receiver itself. That's what you want so you can preserve all your functionality of the tuner controls and the steering wheel buttons. Fiddling around with an aftermarket unit while driving is like texting on a cell phone - not safe.

Yeah, that is what the second link is about. Unfortunately, my bmw is not pre-wired for satellite radio, so that makes things a little more complicated.

Are you sure it isnt?

Look under the trunk floor liner. If you see a pink plug there, youre good to go.

I just hooked my dock and play to that with an extension cable. Works fine. The antenna is in the sharkfin.
