Bluetooth menu gone! reset?
Hey
i have a bmw professional system not idrive. and the bluetooth was working perfect until one day.. the fone icon on the screen changed into 2 dashes ( --) now by pressing the BT button on the menu it does nothing! and my fone will never pair coz it cant find the BMW BT! and i cant get into the menu to turn it on! lol is there a way to reset the bluetooth on the car? an autoelectrician said if i removed the battery that it wud reset everything BUT the airbags and all the warning lights will come on until i take it to bmw for a reset. is that true? thanks |

Not sure on the 320 but on my 330 the same thing happened. I pulled the neg battery cable and the bluetooth came back. No airbag lights or anything...I mean it's just like changing a battery and people do that all the time without a reset.

There should be a bluetooth module under the boot floor - not the normal lift up part, but the bit nearer the back seats; if it's there, you have BT. With mine, the problem was that I hadn't plugged the CD changer back in at that stage after an amp install; the BT communicates with the head unit via the fibre optic link, and that link loops through other things - unplug one of them, you lose the BT. So my advice to the original poster is to check all the fibre connections if a reset doesn't cure things.

Remove the trunk carpet and you will see the TCU(telematics control unit). Unplug the large connector and the fiber optic connector, let it sit for an hour and plug it back in, should bring back bluetooth!
