Just ordered a spare tire!
Thought i would give myself peace of mind and order a decent sized wheel/spare tire combo for the 335. I went ahead and followed the advice given in this earlier post. Bought a cheap 17' x 7.5" rim and a 225/45/17 tire at tire rack and the jack kit. Total cost about $350. The spare kit from Tischer is 275+50 shipping or $325 and you get a lousy spare. This way I don't have to worry about getting a flat and can get rid of the sub-par runflats for some normal tires.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ght=fuzion+hri I will give you guys feedback on everything when the parts get in. By the way, I priced out runflats vs non-runflat hankook tires and the savings are about $590 each set!!!! So the spare pays for itself within 1 tire set.

Will you be storing it in the trunk with a tire tote + cargo net? Most of the guys here who use a spare go with this method.

Yes, I will be storing the tire in the trunk. I may pick up a tire tote at the local autoparts store. I'll probably just use a tie-down and the tie-down hooks to keep it in place.

I just put some new wheels on my E92. My question is can I use one of the front stock wheels with runflat as a spare tire for the back?
Like If I have a flat back tire, does the oem front wheel can be mount in the back? I forgot to check that when I was mounting the wheels. If that is possible then I wouldn't need to buy a new spare tire. Also what jack kit do you use? The other day I lifted the car and the plastic mounting part broke braking my side skirt Any help? Thanks

Honestly guys I am in the process of changing to non runflats myself. Just ordered Michelin tires from Sams Club with road hazard for $560.00. Looked all over for a spare tire and jack. I feel $379 for a tire and jack is to much. I guess I am lucky I haven"t had to change a flat tire in 35 years. But for safty sake I bought a jack at a junk yard for $20. Bought a 12v air compressor for $27 and a plug kit for $8 that totals to $55 I feel that is cheap insurance and saved a lot of room in my trunk.

I also purchased a nice small compressor kit from Habor Frieght. I purchased a plug kit. Now running Michelins reg tires. What a difference in price and ride. All my flats in pass 40 years come from a nail or screw. I may end up with a spare for long road trips. The spare will be kept in the garage when using it for local driving.

I just spent a bit more ($450) and ordered the 335i spare tire kit from BMW. 36-11-2-159-860
It has a 125/80R17 Continental Tire on a nice looking Aluminum rim in a bag with straps that connects onto the storage hooks. It also comes with a Jack kit. |

Here is my BWM official 335i spare tire kit (as mentioned in the above other post) that I just picked up...
It's less than 5" high when laying flat. All items except the big bag is made in Europe. It comes with a bag that has clips and straps to tie into the car truck anchor points. The bag has a little bag inside that has a plastic floor mat. The kit bag hold the scissor jack, wrench, tire stop, gloves, user manual, and a strap. The tire and alloy wheel are speed rated to 80 km/hr. Part# 36-11-2-159-860 - 125/80R17 SPARE TIRE List $519 Mike Last edited by bmwmike; 02-05-2011 at 08:50 PM.. Fit on 335i
Mike[/QUOTE]
Mike I'm looking to pull the trigger on this compact spare and just wanted to ensure that it fits on your vehicle? Since BMW has a "no returns" policy, I'm a little apprehensive. Thanks |

When did BMW start selling the aluminum-wheel compact spare kit in the US? Last year, I bought the Bavauto kit because you couldn't order the OEM kit through BMW NA. Only in Europe. And, I guess, Canada now.
Would be nice if they started selling it in the US, though. |
