If the headlight auto level, why would there need to be a switch to manually level the lights?

So, what would you do with such a "rheostat"? In other words, I'm curious as to why do you want it?

because in the city where its well lit i think my lights are fine but in really dark areas i liek to see far ahead of me and the headlights are aimed too low for that. and yes u can go under the hood and adjust them but it would be a nice convenience to be able to raise them up some in situations where u need more light

Are you sure that doesn't adjust how bright the interior lights are?

As far as I know, the only BMWs that got that adjustment wheel were models built for delivery in certain countries outside the North American market that had halogen headlamps without the auto level adjustment. It was to allow the driver the ability to adjust the headlamp aim level to account for vehicle loading situations that might otherwise blind oncoming traffic (i.e., heavy loads in the trunk).
I believe that any BMW that has Xenons (in all countries) have the auto level adjustment and do not have the "manual" adjustment wheel in the cabin. Mike |
