Color choice of 330i
Hi Guys...
So I have an Electric Red 330. BUT. It's not going to be red for very long, because MY F---ING PAINT KEEPS FALLING OFF. Started with two little spots on the front bumper, paint just disappeared, no warning... BMW was going to repaint my bumper, and that would be that. Until my outer mirror lost a peice of paint the size of a silver dollar, and my rain channel began to bubble!! F--- THAT! So, BMW is most likely going to take my car back, because I will not accept them painting my WHOLE car, it'll never EVER be good enough for me. I still want my 330, so I'm not going to buy something else, I'm going to get another, similarly loaded 330. But should I stay with red, or get something else? What do YOU think? and NO. I'm NOT going to get a 335i. Three reasons: Insurance. Insurance. and if I get any faster of a car, I'll be put in jail, pronto. Matt |

hey, sorry to hear, can you post pictures?
and so BMW has already promised you that they will give you a new car? seems very generous on their part to do so as the problem is not about the mechanical/electrical/driveability of the car, but just the paint.

That's weird. The first I've heard of such a major paint problem.
But to get to your question, red is a pretty unique color for the E90. It sounds like you aren't one for the herd mentality of black, gray or silver (I like black, myself ). If you want something unique, I'd suggest Mystic Blue, Barrique Red, or Deep Green.

I prefer E.R. to both Barrique and green, but mystic blue is a choice I would consider
And no, BMW has NOT promised me a new car, but I'm not willing to accept anything less at this point, and I know from experience that if I press the issue, my chances of getting a new car are good. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow, but no guarantees. costs me like $1 per pic for the cell phone pics! lol Matt |

i was wondering... if your paint is falling off .. then its obviously a defect. Is BMW just gonna repaint your whole car or are they giving you a completely new one?
Anyway, if I was gonna choose a color other than the AW I ordered, my next choice would be Artic Metallic. Theres an artic driving around my city and it's a pretty cool color. Nice silvery blue when its sunny, silver when its cloudy, and near SG when its night time. If you had the option to repaint your car, then I would go with a lexus IS color I saw. I don't think the color is in the catalog or something, but go to a dealer and look for a white metallic color that looks like snow. Sooooo nice. When my AW car fades/rusts/needs to be repainted, I wanna paint it with that lexus color.

I'd go with Mystic Blue. Way too many silver and black Bimmers (or any car for that matter) on the road.

Might have been just a bad batch or red. YOu might be able to find out more from maybe a quality assurance/issue manager. If you really love the color than have them send it to SC to get repainted.

If you can get a new car do it. I bought a 03 e500 and wanted nav. It wasn't available at the time (e was brand new). I was told it would be dealer installed when it was available. Needless to say I was eventually told it couldn't be done. I now had a car I didn't want. After alot of complaining MB gave me a new car for no money. That was after the 03 had 14000 miles. Become a pain. Email bmwna the dealer and send them letters. Eventually they may relent. Good luck
