BMW 335i vs Audi S4
Guys,
I am big fun of S4 and very close to getting one, but with new 335i I am really having doubts 1. 335i is 10K cheaper 2. Almost equal speed 3. AUDI is AWD but BMW is 2 doors :rocks: 4. Both great looking and great build Any other thought?? Would be great to read some comparison on Car and Drivers or similar magazines. Cheers, Vlad |

I prefer the 335i also. With near 360 ft lbs, its going to kick you in the back even harder than the S4 will, especially since its lighter as well! Now, the RS4 .. well thats another story With the S4 being at least +$10k over the 335i, that brings it perilously close to the 2008 M3 territory, so if youre still considering it, Id at least wait for the new M3 before making your decision. If you must get it now, then get the 335i.

the 335 is priced with a 3.2 A4 and the M3 will be placed in price close to the S4. In reality the 335 is on par with the s4 and the m3 is on par with the rs4. I say that loosely, but you are getting more car for your money with BMW.

whoa...that's making one hell of a statement. Have you ever drivin an S4? However, I do agree that a twin turbo might be easier to mod, but also with an expense to the life of the engine, turbo, etc. The old S4's with the twin turbo six could gain 85-100 hp with just a chip!

If AWD isint something you must have, i would go with the 335. Their both built very well and have enough power to get you around. So it comes down to price for me and the 335 is cheaper.

Well, I do live in Canada, Edmonton. Winter can get nasty here, so Quattro would be plus. But on another hand I am not sure if I want to drive 80K car in winter, 10K SUV would be smarter.
I had price out 335i and is gonna cost me with all taxes and crap 68K Cnd S4 gonna be 80.5K Cnd It is a hell difference, not sure if S4 worth extra 12K |

Ahhh, finally a reasonably comparo to the 335i. I am so sick of M3 comparisons! This one makes much more sense. I've been lucky enough to beat on an '06 S4 quite a bit this year and am on order for a 335i, so I have some experience with both. Before I start, both are awesome cars. Some random thoughts:
1) The 335i is going to be faster in almost every situation, imo. I have no numbers for this, it is just a prediction. I predict a couple tenths in the 1/4 consistently. 2) At high speeds I will not be surprised if the S4 starts to move ahead of the 335, by high speeds I mean 120mph+. 3) In terms of driving dyanamics, or handling, it isn't really close. The 335 is more planted and more "fun" to drive. The S4 has the advantage of AWD whic helps it launch and will help it in some situations, but it understeers, you *will* notice the understeer. The 335i, as mentioned, feels more nimble and tossable. 4) They have similar grunt for city driving, I am not sure which will have better mpg. I would guess the bmw, but not by a lot. 5) The S4 sounds better inside and out. I like the exhaust note of the 335, but it isnt a V8 and you can tell. 6) The S4 is way roomier, but you can feel the lack of rigitity compared to the 335 and of course there is the 4 door thing. 7) The S4's interior is so much better than the 335i it makes my ass hurt. Seriously, I like the spartan BMW thing but Audi can make an interior. Black with white recaro seats = YUM. So sweet. 8) Audi's paint colors and paint quality is way better than BMW. Take my word for it ont he quality. 9) BMWs interiors are typically more durable, the 335i has better NAV. 10) Audis manual is, imo, slightly nicer (slicker) - their AT isn't even close. Which do I like better? The 335i obv, I ordered one. Looks are subjective, and I like the way the S4 looks but it looks too much like an A4. I like coupes, I like that the 335i will be faster (imo) and will be more open to mods. I especially like (the deciding factor) that it feels so much better when driving. It really does feel more nible and planted. And it costs less too. |

One thing I forgot to mention is ride comfort. I think with stock 18's the 335i is a little more comfortable; with 19" run flats that changes to the S4. I think in general the 335i will be a little more comfortable. I do think the S4 is a great car, and I mean comparing a coupe to a sedan is tough but for me it all came down to the drive. As much as I like the drive of the S4, the power, the killer manual trans and of course the stellar interior, the 335i just felt better particularly because of the lack of understeer, which is really annoyingly obvious in the S4. |

If you need a sedan, then the S4. Nothing better than a V8 and Audi's AWD system.
