Decorative trim in black leather for sport steering wheel

I was browsing the accessories section of the BMW Canada website and came across this. Does anyone have info on this? If it is what it appears to be, then it seems BMW sells trim for the sport steering wheel with a leather surface as opposed to the sprayed-on rubber junk. Unfortunately BMW Canada does not see fit to provide any part numbers on their website or pricing. I just might go to the dealer and look into this, I hope it's real leather and not just textured rubber/plastic.

Edit: I couldn't find any reference to this on the BMWUSA website btw.

Alright, I went to the dealer today and asked, turns out this thing really does exist. Unfortunately it's listed at CAD$228 which seems steep for a piece of trim, however Tischer has it for US$131.16, so that's not so bad

For any interested, here are the part numbers: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...54&hg=32&fg=35

Edit: For those of you keeping your cars and have the peeling trim problem, this might make an elegant solution

Sounds like a great solution. I wanted to wrap my M-Sport one in leather.

I wonder if they just make the M trim in leather as well. That would be awesome.

When I swapped to the M-Sport wheel I kept the original sport trim, fitment is a tiny bit off (sport trim is a few mm wider) further up on either side but it would be impossible to notice unless you stuck your head behind the steering wheel or knew where to feel. So you could still swap it out, but then you'd lose the M badge.

I'd actually like one with both the pearlescent chrome trim and leather.

Reviving an old thread...

Does anyone actually have the leather sport steering wheel trim? I'd like to see a nice closeup picture of it if anyone has one...

Old thread - but I'm still interested in seeing what this really looks like - can't really see well from the pic in the first post...
