ECU Fan removal

It's me again
I am trying to get rid of all strange noises and rattles in my car and my ECU fan is something I need to replace as it realy makes too much noise.
Could anybody tell me please on which side of the firewall is the ECU fan ?
Should I start looking for it from the inside of the car or from the engine bay ?

Thanks.

I'm assuming your car is left hand drive so your ECU compartment and Fan will be on the drivers side firewall. Remove the cover in the footwell area below the steering wheel. The fan is up against the firewall and should be able to be reached from inside the car. You may also need to access the ECU compartment where the DME resides. By removing the ECU plastic box you should be able to see the ventilation cover and fan's 2 screws you are trying to remove.
Look here for details on the fan assembly (part # 5) e-box fan 12907547141 : http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...27&hg=12&fg=35

Thanks Sparky66, but for a left hand side car the ECU fan should be on the passenger side rather than on the driver side.
Basically it should be on the same side as the ECU box is.
I am wondering if it is better to work from the inside of the car or from the engine bay to find it and remove.
