Screw that. Before the dealer takes possession of your car, you give them strict instructions to leave your bumper alone. You'll deal with the consequences.

it was there before i even purchased it or saw it or anything

i think the story was that one lady got pulled over for not having a front plate and blamed the dealer and in order to prevent any more potential issues they started putting them on all their cars except M models

Yeah... that's what you get for living in CA. Got a front plate ticket a few years ago on my 325i. Not sure who I was more pissed off at, the dealer, CA or the asshole cop.

Yup, the dealer drilled into my baby too. I told him not to do it and he said alright but when I took delivery, he said he had to because it there was a potential risk or something like that because it was cali law. I'm pretty sure that's bs but I was too excited that day to play hardball.

don't they usually make you sign a form that says you will not blame them for the consequences of not having a front plate? I remember doing that at the time of delivery

I made sure that my dealer KNEW that I did not want holes in the bumper. I told the dealership that it's my problem if I get a ticket. It's not the dealership's problem.

Fact is, there really isn't any justification for the dealer drilling holes into your bumper. It's easy enough to explain away the lack of holes. Got a new bumper recently. Dealer had holes in the original bumper. Whatever.

Dealer: no holes!

I feel ya mang.

I got lucky. Just bought my E92 off of New Century's current stock, and to my surprise, the front plate bracket was not mounted
