265 tire on 255 rim

What are the advantages or disadvantages of installing a 265 width tire on a 255 width rim? Does the tire stick out beyond edge of rim on the inside? Why do it? Why not?

Need new tires for my stock 230 rims. Like the rims; don't like the width.

I'm in the same dilema, stock 230 wheel and the RFT screw me over, so I replace with a 235/35 and a 265/30 setup. I read from other users that have the same setup and drop the wheel setup will look more square unlike 255 its a little round. It should be alright thou, 265 tire setup is much cheaper then 255 maybe b/c is more commonly used.
