Can I swap front and rear wheels?

I just bought 162 style rims off of craigslist. They are sizes 225/40/18 in the front and 225/35/18 in the back. Can I swap the front and back wheels? Why do they put different sizes in the front and back?

Do I need to align the tires? I know I probably need to at least balance them before mounting. Also would you guys recommend running non-rfts in the front and rfts in the back?

Thanks for all your help.

James

I guess you mean 255/35/18 in the rear? And that the rear wheels are wider in the rear.

The wider wheels always goes on the rear.

If you do have some uneven wear, I would recommend doing a 4 wheel alignment just to be sure they everything is within spec; RFT's are an arm and a leg...

What most people do on here is run non-RFT's and run an extra full size spare in the trunk with a tire tote.
