Dumb Question About TPM's

Are TPM's mounted internally on the wheel before the tire is put on the wheel? I just received the new 313 BMW Performance wheel and tire set, mounted and balanced by BMW, and I don't see anything external on the wheel other than what I am pretty sure is the weights for balancing.

They are inside the tire.

As you posted your reply I was able to find out how they are mounted, part of the valve stem.
