Engine remap for better gas mileage?

I dont know but Im acutally kinda upset that the 335i didnt have the 19/40 that I originally read on Tech Comparison Sheet that I read on the forum page. I understand it is forced induction and I overall the consumption is really nice. I just got to thinking. You guys think the euro 335i will have 40 highway? Maybe its the emissions laws that make it that way? A buddy of mine told me that US emissions laws keep manufacturers from making cars as efficient as the euro counterparts. Is that true

Hey maybe if that is true, do you all think it is possible to get the software all remaped to the euro spec. I would love to get 40 highway. That would bring gas bill down a hell of alot becuase I drive about 2500 miles a month and about 80% of that is highway.

ORIGINAL TECH SHEET. (scroll down just a little, its at the bottom of the first post)

Well since the good old US gallon has only got 3.78 liters in it (the imperial gallon has 4.55) you can't expect the same actual mpg number can you?

I dont expect 40 but i would hope i would average about 30-35 for the highway. I know im being way too hopeful and overall the current consumption is actually very great. It would just leave me with an extra hundred or so in my pocket a month. Thats another dinner at larcos.

Take the UK MPG figure and divide by 1.2. Your answer is the US MPG equivalent.

40.4 UK MPG = 33.7 US MPG

The U.S. 335 probably doesn't have "lean-burn" mode because of the sulfur content in U.S. fuel, so that's why it won't get the same mileage.

I'm sure Dinan will have software available that will help out in both the mileage and performance department by next year.

This same thing confused me for a while, so I figured something was up. Anyways.....

It makes sense that the 40.4 MPG is in UK MPG, because they also list 7.0 Liters/100km. 7 liters = 1.5398 UK Gallons, and 100 km = 62.13712 miles. (62.13712 x 1.0) / 1.5398 = 40.35 Miles per UK Gallon.

I don't see 30-35 to be out of reach but it does depend on how you drive.

This car is close to 3600lbs, with 300hp. PLEASE, PLEASE, get real. With that much power, you will be hitin the gas all the time around town. Expect 15-16mpg city, on summer fuel, and 14mpg city on winter fuel. I would expect 25mpg pure highway. That is your best case. For you Southern boys who don't know what winter/summer fuel is, don't ask. Have fun!

don't be stupid

the only way to get 40mpg is to buy the high mileage pills that you drop into your gas tank in combination with the vornado in your intake manifold
