Changing the 335i, what next
Ok so a bit bored on my rig so might as well see what you all reckon.
Have had a 335i se coupe for about 15 months. Planned some mods but only ever got round to changing the suspension and wheels. It's a great spec car (black with red leather on BBS LMs) with over 6K of options if I remember right anyway. I love the car, and still get goosebumps when I see it from a distance but I always get itchy feet after a year or so So I think I have made the mental move on and considering getting rid of it later this year. What to get though? I am getting fed up of borrowing mates cars/vans to move stuff so want something a bit more roomy. It must be a bit special and have reasonable oomph but I don't need great speed as I also have a 200bhp caterham 7 for my speed junkie needs. My mate has a range rover sport 2.7 which is surprisingly fast for it's size. I've always liked them and that seems to be top of the list but then it would have to be the 3.6 version. BUT I am a beemer fan so have to consider the X5. I really like it but the twin turbo diesel is too far out of my budget (say 30K). Also I sometimes don't like the black plastic of the SE version BUT the sport is apparently too hard riding and is also too expensive yet. Lastly i like all the toys in the 335 so would want them which puts the price up even more (outside lighting, heated seats, sunroof, folding mirrors, DAB, pro sat nav, sport seats, etc). Before anyone else says no the petrol versions are not an option. Though I could probably get a petrol same year car for less than the diesel and use the money for fuel but i just couldn't live with seeing 15mpg on the dash! I am scottish after all. Not going to be doing it for a few months (waiting for new Range rover sport to come do put a dent in current versions prices) and may even wait until january when I get my annual bonus. Don't really fancy an old man A4 estate or anything like that as I'm not married with kids yet! Must have a bit of coolness factor! Any opinions welcome. |

H Finnie.
How about an RS6 avant. Total brute, sounds the nuts and plenty of toys. Likes its fuel, but can be had for a good price nowadays. Failing that, I'd also fo for the Landy sport 3.6 - When does the new one come out? |

The wife has the family wagon now so I'm having some summer fun; plus it was virtually a giveaway mate
I might have the Beemer back if timing works well. Make sure you advertise it on here chap.

Now I did get very distracted by an RS4 Avant on pistonheads! very nice car but in mind there is something wierd about being single and owning an estate. With a 4x4 you have no choice to be an estate so it ok and reasonably cool but a normal estate seems a bit old mannish to me. I guess just a four door would be good. With all the emmissions crackdown etc i also see now as maybe my last chance to get a V8 before they get outlawed/so expensive to run! I have heard of some serious suspension isssues with them though.
No need to mention the M3 saloon as I went to see one recently and hated the interior compared to the coupe. Too upright I think, the coupe seems roomier up front. M5 and RS6 tourings too big for me. Reckon I'll go and test drive an RS4, take a breath after listing to the V8 and then try another rangie and a 3.0d X5 and see how I feel. |

You'd struggle to get one with such high spec though - I should know as I used to own it Barter £300 discount (sorry Finnie) and you've got the perfect car
